Phoenix Donates to Durham 2021

January 3, 2019

At the Proclamation ceremony last night I was pleased, on behalf of the lodge, to hand over a cheque to David D. on the occasion of him representing the Provincial Grand Master. The donation of £200 by our members to the Durham 2021 Festival takes it another step closer to reaching its overall goal of £2,712,768 - over £2 million has already been received in total across the Province. Many of our members have signed up to the continuous giving scheme, and I encourage every member to give what they can afford.

Rod C.

Rod joined Phoenix Lodge in 1981 but due to personal circumstances, was unable to take the chair when his first opportunity arose. That certainly did not arrest his enthusiasm for the order and for Phoenix in particular, for in the course of the next thirty-odd years he served variously as Warden and filled in for other officers when they were absent. Indeed his service extended to the Province, where he served as a Provincial Grand Steward for many years. At long last, in 2017 he was installed as Master of the Phoenix Lodge, in a ceremony marked as much for its timeliness as its happiness.
